Lanyon Homestead is approximately 30km from the city centre. Access is from Tharwa Drive, via an unsealed road.
Due to its rural setting we recommend that you travel by vehicle to enjoy Lanyon Homestead.

Guided tours are available in the homestead, and are included in the price of admission.

Lanyon Homestead runs education programs for primary students.
Our courtesy buggy provides a pick up and drop off service from the main visitor carpark to visitors with restricted mobility. Call us on 02 6237 6500 to book a ride. We also have accessible parking available via the same road as the main visitor car park, taking a left turn before the main carpark. Following this road around will take you behind the Barracks, where you can access all of Lanyon’s facilities more easily.

A range of hot and cold dishes, beverages and sweet treats are available from The Barracks which is open 10am to 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday. Picnic hampers can also be purchased through the cafe for visitors who would like to enjoy a picnic in the garden.
With the mountains so close the weather can be changeable. It’s best to wear practical clothing and footwear and be prepared for sunshine, rain and wind. Sunscreen, hats and rain jackets are recommended together with an extra jacket if visiting in the cooler months.
Lanyon remains a working rural property in and cattle and stock are a common sight on approach to the homestead. To ensure your safety please do not approach them. Dogs and other pets are not permitted on site.
Lanyon Homestead sits within the Murrumbidgee River corridor and is home to a variety of native wildlife. Keep an eye out for snakes, stinging insects and swooping birds and if you have any concerns please see staff.
Drinking water is available from the cafe. All other water is not potable.
