Thinking geographically, thinking Mugga-Mugga

Mugga-Mugga Cottage · Years 9 - 10

The View from Mugga-Mugga

This slideshow is a chronology of a specific landscape view spanning 87 years. The location is the suburb of Symonston, in the city of Canberra.

The views are taken from within the historic place Mugga-Mugga, established c.1860. The property is historically significant because it is an outstanding example of a rural Australian cottage outstation. Mugga-Mugga provides an excellent opportunity for students in Years 9-10 who are studying Australian Curriculum: Geography, to undertake a case study because its remnant grassland paddocks are set within a range of contrasting land use including semi-rural residential, light industrial, nature reserve and recreation parklands.
