'Beyond The Farm Gate' Walking Tour

Join a guided tour to explore places away from the main Homestead and gardens that are not usually seen by the public at Lanyon Homestead.

See why this area is known as the 'Lanyon Bowl' and how the rich landscape sustained Aboriginal culture and supported European settlement. Learn about the farming and irrigation of the Homestead, see the homes of workers past and including ‘Bluebeard’s Cottage’ on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River.

You will see the southern hemisphere’s second largest water pumping windmill up close and personal. You will learn about Aboriginal places like the scar tree, the river corridor and hear about our ongoing wombat wellbeing program. Enjoy views of the house and paddocks from afar. Arrive back at our in house café The Barracks, in time for lunch (not included).

This is a 3.3km walking tour that features a few hills and occasional rough ground, wombat holes and high grass. It is not suitable for children under 12 due to the terrain. Suitable closed in shoes must be worn, Bring your own reusable water bottle. Hat and sun cream recommended.
