Why did farm workers need a tin dog? What is a tin dog and how much do you feed it?
Don’t Google the answer, just drop in to our tinkering table at the Machinery Shed and construct your own tin dog! Bring a picnic and explore the gardens or grab a treat from the Barracks Espresso Bar and Eating House.
Kids discovered that a tin dog is a simple device made of metal and fencing wire - shake it around and it makes a clattering sound to herd mobs of sheep together!
Everyone had a great time at the Machinery Shed - hammering decorative details including the names of their favourite dogs, then threading the metal disks onto a loop of wire and using pliers to connect the ends. Tin dogs were carried home safely in paper bags, and with the warning not to use them to chase the cat!
