The Canberra Symphony Orchestra brings the rhythms of Spain, South America and Latin America to the lawns of Lanyon Homestead.
From Astor Piazzolla’s Libertango and Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 to Shakira, Ricky Martin, La Bamba, Despacito and We Don’t Talk About Bruno, Live at Lanyon moves across generations, genres and musical traditions.
A Canberra Symphony Orchestra chamber ensemble featuring violins, viola, cello, bass and guitar will perform classical works, traditional tango, Latin inspired arrangements and chart favourites across two vibrant sets.
Acclaimed classical guitarist Minh Le Hoang, winner of the Tokyo International Guitar Competition, joins the ensemble as featured soloist for this Spanish and Latin inspired program.
Serkan and Christian Alasya from TengoTango will bring live Latin dance into the heart of the performance, adding the unmistakable energy of tango to the Lanyon lawns.
Live at Lanyon is a family friendly event, with a dedicated lawn games area for additional family fun.

Concert seating
This is an unseated outdoor concert with limited shade. Bring a hat, picnic rug and/or low beach chair. To help everyone enjoy a clear view, guests with high-backed chairs will be asked to sit towards the back.
The concert area is slightly sloped and has uneven ground surfaces. Gates open at 4.15 pm.
Mobile reception and Wi-Fi
As a rural property, Lanyon Homestead has limited mobile reception and the Wi-Fi can sometimes be unreliable. If you are meeting friends or family, arrange a meeting place, such as the Homestead Cafe, before you arrive.
Food and drinks
Bring your own picnic or add a ploughman’s board to your booking. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks can be purchased from the event bar. No BYO alcohol. Please take all rubbish home for disposal.
Children
This is a family-friendly concert and children of all ages are welcome. Children must remain supervised by a parent or carer. A nearby play area will offer lawn games within viewing distance of the concert.
Lanyon Homestead is beside the Murrumbidgee River and is surrounded by paddocks and open spaces with uneven ground, livestock and wildlife.
Getting here by car
Free parking is available on site. The driveway entrance is on Tharwa Drive, approximately 250 m south of Banks. The driveway is unsealed and has a speed limit of 40 km/h. Please slow down around other vehicles, people and livestock.
Getting here by public transport
There is no direct public transport to Lanyon Homestead. Public buses travel to Lanyon Marketplace in Calwell. From there, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to Lanyon Homestead.
Need a ride?
Visitors with limited mobility can use the people mover between the car park and concert grounds. The shuttle will operate continuously from 4.15 pm to 5.15 pm, then again from 6.45 pm to 7.15 pm after the concert.
Rain or shine
Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable enclosed shoes. Bring a hat and sunscreen, as well as rainproof clothing if needed. If severe or dangerous weather is expected, the event will be postponed.
Leave only footsteps and take your rubbish home
There is no regular rubbish collection at Lanyon Homestead, so all event waste must be transported off site. Help reduce the event’s environmental impact by taking your rubbish home.
Help look after our site
Lanyon Homestead is a heritage site. Please be mindful of its historic plantings, gardens and buildings. Take care while moving through the property, as there are uneven surfaces in the gardens, on paths and around the homestead.
Pets and assistance animals
Pets are not permitted at Lanyon Homestead. Assistance animals, including guide dogs, are welcome. The property includes paddocks with livestock and is surrounded by working farms.
