ACT Historic Places presents - Lakespeare at Lanyon

Step into the story with an intimate preview of the 2019 Shakespeare by the Lakes II season

Enjoy sunset over the Brindabellas with an exclusive ticketed performance of Lakespeare’s Twelfth Night set in the stunning gardens of Lanyon Homestead. Tickets are limited to 150 guests who will receive individual seating and enjoy a special Q&A with visiting director Christopher Stollery.

In 2019 Lakespeare is partnering with Lanyon Homestead to present the opening show of Twelfth Night. This performance will be an exclusive, one-off, ticketed event ahead of the Shakespeare by the Lakes season which will commence the following week.

Presented by ACT Historic Places, the Lakespeare company have adapted Twelfth Night especially for this heritage venue. Audiences will enjoy the show in a more intimate, and Lanyon-specific setting.

The ticket price will include:

• Individual seating for a maximum of 150 patrons only

• Pre-show live music by the Lakespeare company

• Premiere performance of Lakespeare’s 2019 season of Twelfth Night in the spectacular gardens of Lanyon Homestead

• Q&A in the Pleasure Garden with guest director Christopher Stollery, compered by Laura Tchilinguirian, Patron of Shakespeare by the Lakes

• Exclusive experience of Lanyon at sunset with a unique evening performance at the homestea

How to get here

Lanyon Homestead is approximately 30km from the city centre. Access is from Tharwa Drive, via an unsealed road.

Ensure you arrive in plenty of time before the show commences.

Due to its rural setting we recommend that you travel by vehicle, to enjoy Lanyon Homestead.

There is limited mobile reception so if using taxi or alternate transport, prior booking is advised.

Accessibility

A transporter will be available for attendees with restricted mobility. Please email lanyon.homestead@act.gov.au once you have booked in order to nominate this service.

Food and drink

A range of hot and cold dishes, beverages and sweet treats are available from the Pleasure Garden Bar. Platters can also be purchased in advance via the eventbrite ticket options, if you would like to reserve a picnic in the Pleasure Garden before the show.

Clothing

With the mountains so close, the weather is changeable. It’s best to wear practical clothing and footwear and be prepared sunshine, rain and wind.

Safety

Lanyon remains a working rural property in and cattle and stock are a common sight on approach to the homestead. To ensure your safety please do not approach them. Dogs and other pets are not permitted.

Lanyon Homestead sits within the Murrumbidgee River corridor and is home to a variety of native wildlife. Keep an eye out for snakes, stinging insects and swooping birds and if you have any concerns please see staff.

Drinking water is available from the cafe. All other water is not potable.
