Lanyon Homestead is delighted to be reopening to the public on 10 June 2020 following the advice of the ACT Government. Lanyon Homestead will be open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
Our priority is to provide a safe environment for our visitors, staff and volunteers and so when we reopen, social distancing and hygiene measures will be in place and the number of visitors allowed will be restricted.
When we reopen, tours of the Lanyon Homestead gardens will be available. Lanyon’s Barracks Espresso Bar and Eating House will also reopen. To support the gradual easing of restrictions in the ACT, and to ensure this process is phased and controlled, Calthorpes’ House and Mugga-Mugga Cottage will reopen on 27 June and 4 July respectively.
As a public health precaution in support of measures to contain COVID-19, education and public programs will not be recommenced at this stage and venue hire spaces will not be available for immediate use, although forward bookings will be taken.
Reopening on 10 June provides ACT Historic Places the opportunity to complete a number of projects and tasks that are underway during the closure of our sites to the public. These projects include planting 15,000 bulbs and seedlings at Lanyon for Floriade: Reimagined.
We will also be preparing our venues for reopening by implementing additional safety measures including installing signage and hand sanitiser units.
As Canberra recovers from COVID-19, ACT Historic Places is looking forward to safely sharing our community’s collections, exhibitions, gardens and history and welcoming back our visitors.
